Plants have been part of humanity’s diet for as long as there have been humans. Which plants we choose to eat has always been a combination of culture, preference, and how we’re feeling. Other animals also choose different plants depending on whether they want more energy, or need to heal, etc.

“‘See, I give you every seed-bearing plant all over the earth and every tree that has seed-bearing fruit on it to be your food.'” Genesis 1:29

Nearly every healing tradition incorporates plants in some way. Naturopathic health care includes botanical medicine: therapeutic use of medicinal plants to prevent or treat illness. In addition to herbal tinctures that serve as tonics to promote health, and other plant medicines taken to heal diseases, we incorporate herbs, spices, fruits, and vegetables into our diets for their wellness benefits.

We love to play with new ways to integrate plant medicines into daily living, with remedies and treats that are tasty and fun. For instance, our cocoa mix includes ginger and fennel to support the digestive system and soothe on several levels! We prepare herbal syrups, tinctures, vinegars and teas, as well as savory and sweet food items that incorporate plant ingredients for wellbeing.
